There are tons of writing websites on the Internet.  Some of them are good and some are so-so.  Some cover fiction and some cover copy writing.  Some cover marketing and some cover publishing. Others cover query letters, which you should know how to write.

There are five writing websites that I feel that every writer should have bookmarked.

1. Daily Writing Tips. Daily Writing Tips is a blog that offers what it says in the title.  The writing tips cover the entire craft of writing. There is a ton of very good advice on this site.  Some of the this advice includes word usage, grammar, style, how to write and many others.   DWT gives you the option to subscribe and receive e-mail updates.

2. Writing Forward.  Writing Forward is run by Melissa Donovan, a copywriter/web designer by day  and creative writing mentor by night.  There is such a wealth of information about creative writing and journaling. While some might question why a copywriter would need to know about creative writing, well, they do. Learning how to write outside your main area of writing enhances your skills within that area.

3. Make A Living Writing is Carol Tice’s blog and features all kinds of excellent advice for freelancers.  Carol Tice is a very successful freelance writer who also runs The Freelance Writer’s Den. (Disclaimer: I am a member of the Den, but not an affiliate.)  The Den is a subscription based site, but the money spent is well worth it.  Every week, Den members can sit in on calls (or download the recording later) with experts in the area of freelance writing and marketing.  Once a month, non members can sit in on the open house call.  I highly recommend subscribing to the Make a Living Writing log.  Den membership opens and closes at times, but I also highly recommend getting on the waiting list so you can learn first when the Den opens back up.

4. Copyblogger.  Writers need to know how to market themselves and their work so they attract readers.  While the site helps out with bloggers and blogging, the marketing advice they give applies to marketing in general. There are tons of tips and advice for all writers on marketing themselves and their work.

5. Pixel of Ink.  You’re probably wondering why I included this site in this list. Every writer should be an avid reader.   This is true if you write fiction, non-fiction or you are a copywriter.  Pixel of Ink is a blog that gathers together listings of Kindle books that you can download for free. If you don’t have a Kindle,  there are Kindle apps you can download for free depending on your device.   Be sure and subscribe to receive their daily e-mail.

Do you have any favorite writing websites that all writers should have bookmarked?
